In the Catholic ceremony, the Priest continues with the nuptial mass until the “Sanctus.” When the bell for the Sanctus rings, it is also a signal for the veil sponsors to come up to the altar. Together, they pin a veil from the groom’s shoulders, extending it to cover the bride’s head and shoulders. This is symbolic of the groom pledging his strength and protection to his bride - the wife who he promises to take care of, from this day forward. The veil symbolizes unity and that the couple shall be "clothed as one." |
Most of the ceremonies included in the wedding rites came from the Spanish missionaries centuries ago. The cord ceremony featuring the yugal is another ceremony we inherited from them. The yugal or nuptial tie is usually a silken cord or a strand of flowers or coins which the cord sponsors entwine loosely around the necks of the bride and the groom. The yugal is shaped like the number eight, which is said to symbolize the infinity of the bond of marriage. |

Unity Candle Set |
Sometime during the 1990’s, the unity candle ceremony became a big part of weddings, and while it is a fairly new practice, dating back to around the 1970’s, it is becoming more and more popular. The unity candle ceremony is a way to not only bring two individuals together, but also a way to represent the union of two families. And for this reason, many couples choose to have other family members light the individual tapers. One popular version of the unity ceremony is to have the mothers light the individual tapers, and then the bride and groom use the tapers to light the middle taper. Couples who have children often have their kids light the individual candles to represent the union of two families. Sometimes, the grandparents are asked to light the tapers. And of course, if choosing between all these different family members is too difficult, you and your spouse to be could simply light the individual tapers yourselves. While the ceremony is truly a beautiful way to bring the union of two together, it is a good idea to check with your celebrant (priest or pastor) before scripting it into your ceremony. This is because some religious leaders, will not include the unity candle into a wedding ceremony because it is not a part of the traditional litany. If you can plan it into your wedding, I am sure that you and your guests will find it to be a meaningful and lovely way to demonstrate the purpose of the most special day. |
The set includes a 12 inch Unity candle (1 pc), lighter candles (2 pcs), 10 inch ceremonial candles (2 pcs), decorative matches (2 pcs) and offertory candles (2pcs). We use unscented white paraffin candles and embellish them as dictated by the wedding theme and colors. Php2,500.00 |
